Here's the most common issues:
- The latest version of Internet Explorer needs to be downloaded
- The latest Windows Updates need to be applied
- Internet Explorer: URL needs adding to Trusted Sites
- Internet Explorer: box "Keep me signed in" needs to be ticked, and IE remains open
- The "WebClient" service* is not running (needs to be set to autostart)
- A hotfix needs to be applied - see the full article cited above
*Webclient: this service only shows on servers if the role feature "desktop experience" has been added
