The ZTE MC889 outdoor 5G device (similar to previous MC7010) may be provided ODU-only (just the Outdoor Unit Only), or as a kit (including the T3000 indoor Wi-Fi router). This article will help if self-installing.
MC889 ODU components
Bracket (for wall or pole), outdoor unit, PoE injector (power), PoE Ethernet cable, indoor patch Ethernet cable
MC889 ODU: SIM card
- 5G outdoor unit (IP67 waterproofed, with rubber-sealed bottom plate for PoE cable)
- Nano SIM slot; spring-loaded push-to-click/push-to-release, should lie flush (SIM card not protruding)
- Note position of clipped-corner of SIM, metal contacts facing down
- Underside of unit, with plate removed
MC889 ODU: Power
- The PoE injector provides data & power to the unit
- Connect the long flat PoE Ethernet cable from the ODU to the PoE injector "PWR LAN-OUT" port
- Connect the shorter, indoor Ethernet patch cable to the PoE injector "PWR LAN-IN" port
- The other end connects to your own indoor router, or the T3000 Wi-Fi (if supplied)
- T3000: Port 4 (nearest the power) is the correct port to connect to
MC889 ODU: Web GUI
- The web GUI defaults to IP address 192.168.1.254
MC889 indoor Wi-Fi router: T3000
- If supplied, port 4 of the T3000 indoor Wi-Fi router should be connected to the MC889's PoE injector
- Port 4 on the T3000 is closest to the power port
