Overview: This article is only for IT Pros who absolutely need to access an older device uses deprecated TLS protocols (such as TLS 1.1) . you should NOT override your security settings unless you understand the risks. This article outlines options for using a browser on Windows 11 64 bit OS, with ability to access older TLS protocol devices.

Tip 1: Using Firefox browser

Since Edge and Chrome have eliminated the ability to override TLS security settings you will need Firefox browser v. 98.0 (download link below). Once Firefox is launched go to about:config and search for TLS. Set security.tls.version.enable-deprecated to True and set security.tls.version.min to 1. You will now be able to access older devices that use the deprecated TLS protocols. We advise restoring Firefox defaults once your task is complete.

Tip 2: Using "IE Mode" (Internet Explorer) in modern Edge browser

In Edge go to settings > Default browser > Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode: Allow [restart Edge browser]

Click the "e" icon in the top-right to install the "IE Mode" extension:

 ietabhelper.exe

Once installed, whenever you click the "e" icon your website will be displayed in a "sub-browser" instance of the old Internet Explorer browser:

This allows most older IE features to continue to work; only recommended where essential and no other solution is available.
