For techies: Microsoft's Connectivity Analyzer allows you to perform email-specific testing on email servers - test Exchange, IMAP, SMTP, POP3 and more.

There is also a 3rd-party tool that we've found useful for testing TLS configurations on email servers: http://checktls.com
...and it's also worth verifying DNS replication, using a tool such as this: https://dnschecker.org/#MX/mydomain.com
