How to configure Yealink phones with Cloud voice Go

You will need:

  • Server hostname, such as UCM123.btwave.co.uk
  • Extension number, such as 1234
  • SIP password
  • New/Temporary/Ported phone number
  • The local (LAN) IP address of your Yealink phone

If you are re-purposing/recycling an existing phone you can hold the "OK" button for 10 seconds to force a factory reset, after which the default password should be "admin".

IMPORTANT: Ensure latest Yealink firmware (not phone provider's custom FW)

Get phone IP address

On most Yealink desk phones clicking the OK button will show the IP address on the screen. For wireless phones:

  • Press OK > Status > Base > [Note IP address]

(If the DECT handset has not yet been registered with the base, hold the button on base until light  flashes, then on handset go to OK > Settings > Register > use pin 0000)

Change default password "admin"

Try to use 12+ characters, UPPER (A-Z) and lower case (a-z) plus numeric (0-9) to secure password; one idea is to use the MAC address, with the first 6 characters UPPER case, and the rest lower case.

NOTE: It is essential to keep the phone secure so that it isn't easily hacked, potentially blacklisting the number and amassing unexpected bill.

Config a Yealink desk phone

In this example we use a T48G model, but most Yealink desk phones will have identical GUI menus.

Yealink desk phone step 1: Enter account details

Enter the IP address of the Yealink phone into a web browser and log in as admin (change the admin password "admin" as advised above if not already secure). Navigate to Account [tab] > Register [menu] > (enter the account fields)

  • Line Active: Enabled
  • Register Name: (Extension number, such as 1234)
  • User Name: (Extension number, such as 1234; same as Register Name)
  • Password: (SIP Password)
  • Server host: (Server hostname, such as UCM123.btwave.co.uk)
    [Click Confirm button]

Yealink desk phone step 2: Secure device from network attacks

Navigate to Features [tab] > General Information [menu] > (enable options for added security)

  • Accept SIP Trust Server Only: ENABLE
  • Allow IP Call: DISABLE
    [Click Confirm button]

Test calls in both directions, and see additional tips at the end of this article...

Yealink DECT (wireless) phone step 3: Verify all handsets are assigned to the correct account

If using more than 1 handset on the same base you can either add a unique account for each handset (separate phone number and line), or have more than 1 handset share a single account (same phone number). To verify, navigate to Account > Number Assignment > (tick all boxes for both INCOMING and OUTGOING where you want multiple handsets to share a single account)

In this example handsets 1 & 2 both receive (incoming) and make (outgoing) calls using account 1:
