When you receive a SIM there are 2 codes written on it, even in it's "nano" format, so that the SIM can be identified.
Your SIM will usually arrive in "Trio" format (full size, with ability to snap out to Micro or Nano size, as required:
Mini ("Trio") SIM [2FF] | Micro size SIM [3FF] | Nano size SIM [4FF] |
---|---|---|
Also available is "VQFN8" [MFF2], an 8 legged solderable eSIM, to fit socket as per below:
Here's how to identify the SIM via the numerical code ("ICC ID" - Integrated Circuit Card Identifier):
"O2" logo | "3" logo | "EE" logo | "Voda" logo |
Network ID: 23410 | Network ID: 23420 | Network ID: 23430 | Network ID: 23415 |

The partial ICC ID is numerical only (non alphabetical), spread over multiple lines of text; the other codes containing alpha-numerics ("4GPP3" for O2, or "GA6J129" for 3) can be ignored. A full ICC ID is 19 digits long, or 20 for Vodafone MBB.
Our control panels allow you to search for ICC ID (or partial ICC ID), so as to audit and identify the SIM; the MSISDN number (aka. the 07xx phone number) can be matched once we know the ICC ID.
How the ICC ID is constructed
MMCC IINN NNNN NNNN NN C x
MM – most SIM Cards have the same first two digits – 89.
CC – county code, or MCC (Mobile County Code), used to identify a mobile subscriber’s county of origin.
II – SIM card issuer identifier, or MNC (Mobile Network Code), is used to identify a specific mobile network provider. This code is vital for roaming in different countries.
NN – letters N stands for SIM number or account ID. These numbers are what make the SIM card unique.
C – the sum of previous digits using the Luhn algorithm.
x – extra digit that ICCID officially does not include as a part of the number.
