Configuring a Cisco handset with Cloud Voice

Modified on Tue, 07 Dec 2021 at 04:26 PM

Overview: Quickly and simply configure a new Cisco handset to register itself with Cloud Voice and auto-provision. If you are part of the IT admin team, we also show how to "add" the device to Cloud Voice prior to actual provisioning.

In this article we will use screenshots from a Cisco 514G. Compatible handsets are listed at https://internetservices.freshdesk.com/en/support/solutions/articles/5000825025-compatible-handsets-for-cloud-voice

Step 1: add the device to the Cloud Voice admin portal

If you are IT admin, see section at bottom of article. If you are a user that has been given this phone you can safely assume that this step has already been done for you, and you can proceed straight to step 2.

Connect the phone as required and power on.

Press the Menu button.

Down arrow to Network and select. (if configuring the 525G then down arrow to 9 Status)

Option 2 shows the Current IP Address

Enter this IP address into your Internet browser on a computer that is connected to the same LAN

A page similar to the below should be displayed:

Click the Admin link in the top right hand corner of the page.

Click the Advanced link in the top right hand corner of the page.

Click the Provisioning tab

Replace the contents of the field Profile Rule with the following: https://dm-csb.yourwhc.co.uk/dms/phone/$MA.xml

(Works with models 50xG range and 51xG range, such as 501G or 514G, and the 525G)

Click Submit All Change button at the bottom of the page

Reboot the phone and it will now redirect to the Cloud Voice provisioning servers to collect its configuration.
