The ruggedized W59R has both an emergency button and gyroscope sensor alarms suitable for use with the included belt clip; more info here: https://support.yealink.com/en/portal/knowledge/show?id=6458b6e9b1fa936c57b56beb

Overview

The 4 types of alarms are:

  • Button (orange warning button on top of phone)
  • Person down (Wearer collapsed)
  • No movement (Wearer stationary for unexpected length of time)
  • Running (Wearer running too fast in walk-slow safety environment)

Setting a base station to use the alarm features

Log into the phone base station; on the phone handset click OK > Status > Base to obtain the IP address

user M3k2Fp1e

Navigate to Features > Alarm and edit "Alarm Template 1"

Choose alarm types

Edit the alarm name (such as "No movement") and choose the alarm type. There are 10 alarm templates to choose from, allowing you to have, for example, a "No movement" alarm for daytime hours and a different "No movement" alarm for night-shifts, perhaps with longer detection times. See notes below about each alarm type.

All alarm types

When any type of alarm is triggered the phone will dial the safety officer (or colleagues) and once answered a 2-way conversion takes place - the safety office sees the caller ID of the user on the display - automatically put on loud speaker mode.

Button alarm

Hold button for number of seconds specified (we recommend 2 seconds) to trigger the alarm;

Person down alarm

If the phone remains >60° angle (<30° from the ground level, near horizontal) for number of seconds specified (we recommend 60 seconds, to allow a person to stand up from a minor fall). Note: not suitable where phone is laid on desk instead of stood upright; usually desk users keep the phone in the upright position in the charging pod.

No movement alarm

If no movement detected for number of seconds specified (for example, 1800 is 30 minutes) then the alarm is triggered. The maximum number of seconds is 7200 (2 hours). Only suitable for special scenarios.

Running alarm

If running is detected for number of seconds specified (we recommend 3 seconds) then alarm is triggered and user can be reminded of important safety restrictions for their expected area.

Assign alarms to individual handsets

Navigate to Account > Alarm Assignment

Select the handset (if more than 1), and specify a contact number or extension to call if the alarm is triggered; this could be a site safety officer or colleague. If the extension number is a "hunt group" then multiple people could be automatically alerted (dialled) in series, or simultaneously.

Add the desired alarms to the "Selected" list; usually "No movement" alarms are unsuitable for users who will stand or sit at a desks for long periods of time.

Test and adjust

Unless you are using the enterprise W80 multi-cell system, each W70 base will need to be configured as required. We recommend testing your settings by simulating a scenario to trigger an alarm, and adjust timings accordingly.
